John P. Hughes
Founder & Managing Partner

John is the Founder and Managing Partner of Stellar Capital Advisors (SCA). He has been investing in market-leading private companies for over a decade, on behalf of institutional private equity firms, family offices, and individual investors. Prior to launching SCA, John was a Partner with the PE firm Building Industry Partners (BIP), where he led investments and exits of two highly successful roll-up platforms.

Prior to BIP, John was a Vice President at Fremont Private Holdings, the family office of the Bechtel family. At Fremont, John focused on investments in automotive dealerships and other consumer businesses. Previously, John was a Vice President at PineBridge Investments where he invested in the automotive, healthcare, and retail industries. John began his career as an investment banker with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Financial Institutions Group.

John received a B.S. in Economics with Honors, with a concentration in Finance, from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in New York City, enjoys golfing, and ran the 2019 NYC Marathon.
